The Good

I've been watching too much Signing Time, if that's even possible! I really can't say enough good things about this series of DVD's that teach sign language.

Ralph is not yet talking, but we've been able to communicate for some time now, thanks to Alex, Leah and Hopkins. Ralph often asks me for drinks of juice or milk. What would life be like if I had to guess what he was crying about? He even asks to watch Signing Time by signing.

The whole family started learning signs because of Ralph, but everyone really benefits. I found it necessary to use signs at the tag office last week! Because of various appointments, school schedules, and the fact that dad was out of town, I ended up at the tag office with 6 kids in tow last Wednesday. I was able to occasionally ask them to wait and to be quiet as I stood in the winding roped off line with 40 other people while they sat across the room.

I've got some of the volumes memorized and often sing along with Rachel. Here are the lyrics to one of my favorite songs. If you've ever had to find new dreams, you'll understand why I like it so much.

The Good

It was you and me and the whole world right before us
I couldn't wait to start.
I saw you in dreams just like everyone before us.
I thought I knew what we'd got.

But then one day I thought it slipped away
And I looked to my hands to hold on.
And then one day all my fears slipped away
And my hands did so much more...

Maybe we won't find easy,
But baby we found the good.
Maybe we won't find easy
But baby we found the good.

It was you and me and a new world right before us
I was so scared to start
I saw in dreams just like everyone before us
How did they move so far?

But then one day I thought it slipped away
And I looked to my hands to hold you.
And then one day all my fears slipped away
And my hands did so much more...

I love this song too. I sometimes play it over and over again for *me*.

I've loved catching up on your blog and seeing the pics of your beautiful children.

I understand the difficulty of keeping the house clean and juggling everything else. (((Stephanie)))
