Two years ago today was a wonderful terrible day. It was a beautiful, warm Sunday when Ralph was born. I recall laboring through worship that morning...no one knew!
After church I retreated to my room. I felt the need to rest as much as possible so I put on some good music and napped off and on. James kept the children busy playing outside so that I would not be disturbed. I could hear them through the open windows. Later I took a relaxing bath and had a little glass of wine. A perfect day. A perfect labor.
A perfect baby...with a few challenges.
Ralph was born at about 9:30 p.m. I was immediately in love. But, we learned only minutes before he was born that he was in trouble. 911. Ambulance. Hospital
I've spent a lot of time in hospitals over the past two years. I've seen things a mother shouldn't see. Now I see beauty in things that others cannot. My heart's been broken a few times but now there's a bit more room in it. Thanks be to God. And Ralph.
Happy birthday Ralph! I love you!!

Happy birthday, Ralph. :)
I know that love that you speak of, and finding beauty in unexpected places. Thanks be to God, indeed, for sharing these wonderful kids with us.

Thanks so much for sharing Ralph online - so I could fall in love with him, too. Barbara
He looks GREAT BTW.
Happy Birthday Ralph! I found your site thru Networked Blogs on facebook while looking for other blogs that talk about Down syndrome. I have an 18-month old with Down syndrome and I just recently started blogging. Thanks for sharing stories of Ralph. Keep on blogging!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY RALPH!!!!!
You all know this is my Handsome boy! He is an awesome kid and we all are glad he is who he is! Unfortunately we never thought he would reach his 1st birthday and look now he is at his 2nd!
When I listen to Matthew West's song, "I don't want to go thru the motions, I don't want to go one more day, without your all consuming, passion Inside of me, i don't want to spend my whole life asking, what if i had given everything, instead of going thru the motions!"
I think of this little guy, He has changed so many lives. I can't think of a day without him. God Blessed us with him! He chose us, Me and Steph to bring him up in His word, to teach him the way!
He is a great kid and i hope you all enjoy him and his Family.
Happy Birthday Ralphie!
What a beautiful post about your adorable little boy! Thank you for the encouragement it is to me to read about the glory that you give to God as you know and understand that every child He gives is a perfect gift! God bless you and your family!
